Top 100 wide receiver Jayvan Boggs flips from UCF to Florida State

It was on, then off, and now on again.

Whether talking about Florida State‘s chances of flipping Jayvan Boggs away from UCF or the Cocoa (Fla.) High School star signing with any program on Wednesday — the statement is true.

In the end, the ultra-productive wide receiver decided to end his recruitment alongside his Tiger teammates on Wednesday afternoon.

After coaching changes at both programs, Boggs elected to take his talents to Florida State University. There he will play for the offensive coordinator he had long thought would be his head coach at UCF in Gus Malzahn.

The new Seminole assistant wasted no time getting back on the phone with Boggs once he made the trek to Tallahassee.

“FSU is on my heavy,” Boggs told Rivals earlier this week. “He called as soon as he got to Tallahassee. It was crazy talking to him as a Seminole (laughing). But I just had to think it through and see…

“He said he feels the same way and he and Mike Norvell need me at FSU. I would be the guy in that offense and make an immediate impact.”

The flip of Boggs is attributed to Malzahn most recently, but the program was courting him consistently prior as well. He even took an official visit to Tallahassee during the first weekend of November, although he spent much of the time there with assistant coaches who were let go by Norvell soon after.

Boggs then reaffirmed with UCF on November 21 just as Michigan was trying to bring him in for an official visit. That remained the plan until, of course, Malzahn made the move from UCF to FSU as offensive coordinator on November 30. ‘

Now Boggs, who is amid a state championship run with Cocoa, stands as the second highest-rated recruit currently committed to Norvell’s program.

Few prep prospects have been able to match the numbers the newest Seminole has put up since 2023. In 27 games, Boggs has more than 3,000 receiving yards and 40 touchdowns to his name.
