MANILA, Philippines — Former teammates Kianna Dy and Jolina Dela Cruz may be playing for different clubs now but both are working their way back to 100 percent and help their respective teams in the ongoing 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.

Since F2 Logistics bid farewell to the pro volleyball scenes, both ex-La Salle stars embarked on new journeys with different teams as they continue to recover from knee injuries.

Dy last saw action in last year’s Invitational Conference semifinals after hurting her knee. There’s no exact timetable for her return yet, but the PLDT spiker said that her recovery progress is going well.

“Doing good. Hopefully, no more setbacks, that’s all we’re wishing and hoping but progress is ok,” Dy told reporters during the league’s partnership with Watsons.

“It’s hard to expect na we give a date and then biglang may mangyari and then we can’t play so surprise na lang.”

Dy said she’s doing court training with the High Speed Hitters but not yet the same intensity as the other players. But she’s confident she will get there soon.

“It’s the longest I’ve been out and I’m very excited to spike my first game ball and help my team win,” said Dy. “It’s kind of exciting also because I’ve been playing with people I’m familiar with [before] like sina Jolina, ‘yung mga F2 teammates. It’s a new scene to be playing with others so I’m really excited to play with Savi [Davison], Kath [Arado], ate Fio [Ceballos], ‘yung mga hindi ko pa nakakalaro.”

Dela Cruz, meanwhile, is also excited to help Farm Fresh, seeking to repay the team’s trust for signing her while still recovering from a right knee injury nine months ago.

“Never pa ako na-injure nang ganito katagal like nag stop nang ganito katagal sa volleyball kahit nung nasa La Salle wala din talaga ako naging injury hindi ako nag miss out ng trainings especially ng games so nakakapanibago yung ganito at the same time nakaka-excite na bumalik,” said Dela Cruz, one of the three brand endorsers with Akari’s Fifi Sharma.

The young wing spiker is taking her time, hoping to help the Foxies, who are 0-2, once she gets the clearance to play.

“Gusto namin tulungan yung team namin as much as possible pero ang mahe-help lang namin nasa side lang din kami, giving them [advice] kung ano makakatulong na pwede namin sabihin sa kanila,” said Dela Cruz.

“Mas maganda siya na 5-6 months long especially sa amin like makakahabol din kami this season hindi rin naman kami niru-rush,” she added.
