MANILA, Philippines—Far Eastern University swingman Janrey Pasaol chose no better time to explode than on Saturday to keep the Tamaraws in contention for a Final Four spot in the UAAP Season 87 men’s basketball tournament.
With almost no room for losses for FEU, Pasaol came alive to push the Tamaraws past Ateneo, 65-54, bolstering the squad’s chances for a playoff spot.

Pasaol, as the young gun that he is, didn’t fail to acknowledge coach Sean Chambers for his coming out party for Season 87.

“I have to thank coach Sean because me, I came from the Juniors’ program and since then, coach has been telling me to up my discipline, even from the box out or the simple plays,” said Pasaol, who finished with a career-high of 14 points, seven rebounds, six assists and two steals to match

“That’s where I gain my minutes for him because if I miss even just a simple box out, I’ll get subbed out right away so we all need to grind our way as a team for our next games, specifically against UP.”
The rookie out of the Baby Tamaraws’ basketball program flaunted his shooting prowess, registering a blistering 62.5 percent field goal shooting clip after sinking five of his eight shots from the field.

However, even with his best performance for FEU to date, Pasaol knows he still has some ways to go in order to push FEU back into the playoff picture.
And he’s starting with the little things, all with the help of his teammates.
“Until now, I’m working on my free throws and the small details… My teammates are there to guide me all the time because they know I’m the next point guard for them.”
Pasaol and the Tamaraws have the University of the Philippines up next in their sights next Saturday at San Juan Arena.
