MANILA, Philippines—Gilas Pilipinas officially began its preparation for the 2025 Fiba Asia Cup Qualifiers on Friday.

In a Facebook post uploaded by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP), members of Gilas were seen arriving at Inspire Sports Academy in Laguna to start their training camp for the upcoming qualifiers hosted by the country.

“The Gilas Pilipinas Men’s Team begins their training camp at Inspire Sports Academy. Watch them play live this November 21 and 24 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena,” wrote the SBP.

Among those who attended were Japan B.League boys Dwight Ramos and Kai Sotto, who was under concussion protocol a few days ago, and AJ Edu.

AJ Edu, though, was seen in civilian clothing and is still nursing a right knee injury.

Newly-crowned PBA Governors’ Cup champion Calvin Oftana of TNT was also seen with recent Philippine Cup champion Chris Newsome of Meralco.

Ginebra swingmen Scottie Thompson, Japeth Aguilar and Jamie Malonzo were also in attendance, fresh off their PBA Finals run under coach Tim Cone, who was also there to call the shots.

Malonzo, though, was confirmed to be missing the action in the Fiba qualifiers with an injury.

Reigning Governors’ Cup Best Player of the Conference June Mar Fajardo was also present with college stars Mason Amos and Kevin Quiambao and Korean Basketball League Filipno import Carl Tamayo.

Visibly absent in the camp was Justin Brownlee, who is still taking time off after his most recent run with the Gin Kings.
