Before we can dissect the latest rankings for the 12-team College Football Playoff on Tuesday night, let’s tackle a slate of hoops and hockey.

There are plenty of big-time matchups on the menu in college basketball Wednesday, headlined by Auburn at Duke and Marquette at Iowa State.

But we have enough buckets to get a fan excited tonight.

11 Wisconsin vs. Michigan, 9 p.m. ET

Transfer John Tonje helped the Badgers (8-0) get out to their best start since opening the 2013-14 season with 16 consecutive victories. Wisconsin’s two best wins are a 15-point victory over then-No. 9 Arizona and a six-point triumph over 7-1 Pitt. The Panthers are also now ranked in the top 20.

Michigan goes on the road in the first Big Ten game for new head coach Dusty May with no marquee victories this season. The Wolverines can match up with Wisconsin’s guards, but defensively have yet to establish an identity.

Michigan does have some size. Danny Wolf put up 20 points and 14 rebounds in the win over Xavier and comes into the game averaging 10.9 points per game and grabbing a team-high 9.9 rebounds.

4 Kentucky at Clemson, 9:30 p.m. ET

Undefeated Kentucky hits the road with a convincing offense that should travel well. Clemson has only one loss—against Boise State—but has looked put together the past two weeks.

The Wildcats are averaging 96.7 points per game, best in the nation. The Wildcats are also fourth in the nation in rebounding (45 per game) and second in assists (21.1). They are shooting 38.2 percent from 3-point range while holding opponents to 24.9 percent.

Oklahoma transfer Otega Oweh leads the Wildcats with 15.9 points per game. He is hitting 57.1 percent of his shots and ties for the team lead in steals with 11. Dayton transfer Koby Brea has shot 61 percent from 3-point distance while totaling 14.1 points per game.

Clemson is 18th in the nation in 3-point shooting at 39.8 percent. The Tigers return two full-time starters and a part-time starter from last season’s Elite Eight run.

Returning guard Chase Hunter leads the Tigers with 16.4 points per game. Fellow returnee and post standout Ian Schieffelin has also continued his strong play of a season ago with 12.5 points and 11.6 rebounds. Cincinnati transfer Viktor Lakhin has chipped in 11.1 points per game.

In a win over Florida A&M, Clemson shot 50 percent and out-rebounded the Rattlers 41-27. Hunter led Clemson with 16 points, with three other Tigers also reaching double figures.

Kentucky is a 2.5-point favorite on the road, and with experience and balance—four other players average in double figures—it can get the job done Tuesday.

Kentucky -2.5 (-102 at FanDuel)

Washington Wizards at Cleveland Cavaliers, 7 p.m. ET

Washington completed a winless month in November and stands in complete contrast with the Cavs, who kicked out of the gate to a nearly perfect month-plus and continues to show staying power behind the play of Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland.

Favored by more than two touchdowns—Cleveland was -16 as of midnight Monday and held there early Tuesday—we’re taking a peek at points.

If there’s one thing Washington can’t seem to do, it’s defense. As in, playing it has been a problem.

If the Cavs want to string together four 40-point quarters on Tuesday night, it’ll be doable.

Let’s shop for the scoring values on the board and pair two 20-point scorers to bump the odds in our favor.

Darius Garland has scored over 20 points in five of his past eight games and two in a row. He also scored 23 points in 24 minutes—half of a game—against Washington earlier this season.

Evan Mobley had a poor shooting night in that matchup—4 of 13 from the field—and still netted 13 points. If he’s anywhere close to his season shooting percentage (54.5 percent) on Tuesday, he’ll be in the 20s, too.
