MANILA, Philippines—It’s been a strenuous week so far for College of St. Benilde coach Charles Tiu. The coming days won’t be any less demanding either.
Tiu, who steered the Blazers back into the NCAA Finals four days ago, also serves as deputy for Converge in the PBA and he was on the FiberXers sidelines on Wednesday when they whipped the Terrafirma Dyip in the Commissioner’s Cup opening.

Despite the hectic schedule, Tiu won’t have it any other way.

“It’s part of the job and I consider it a blessing. It’s a nice place to be in. Right now, I really want to focus on Benilde and it’s just a matter of managing my schedule,” said Tiu in an interview with Inquirer Sports on Wednesday at Philsports Arena.
“It is tiring, to be honest. Sometimes, it’s confusing because you really have to prepare for the PBA but it’s rare for us to be in a situation with Benilde where we have the finals.”

Before Benilde plunges back into action on Sunday for Game 1 of their best-of-three title series against the top-seeded Mapua Cardinals, Tiu will be helping Converge get ready for another game on Friday against Hong Kong Eastern on Friday. The FiberXers then play the Magnolia Hotshots in Antipolo on Sunday which coincides with the NCAA Finals opener.
“We’re trying our best to prepare for Mapua and in Converge, we really have a tough schedule,” said Tiu.
“When you want to win, you have to find ways to do whatever it takes. It’s tiring but you can’t be great if you’re not willing to put in the work.”
