The hay has been in the barn for weeks, and as the Early Signing Period looms another huge flip has taken shape.
Four-star running back Daune Morris has flipped his commitment from USC to Tennessee after consecutive visits back to Rocky Top for one of the Volunteer State’s top recruits in the 2025 class.
Morris was in Rocky Top twice in November, including for an official visit this past weekend, as the in-state Vols lock in a commitment from Rivals’ No. 8-ranked all-purpose back ahead of the Early Signing Period.
“I am a priority to them and they want me to stress that to me and let it be known,” Morris told Rivals. “They have for sure let it be known.”
That has been a theme for Tennessee over the past few months as Vols assistant coach De’Rail Sims, Josh Heuepel and other members of the staff have doubled down on the electric back from Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Oakland High School having a statement senior season.
Morris was on campus in Knoxville twice over the past month.
Tennessee has been trending up with Morris as the Vols’ staff continued to roll out red-carpet treatment for the in-state playmaker.
“The visit went great … just being able to get back on campus and to be able to get an experience like that at home was a highlight for me,” Morris told Rivals. “To be able to watch Dylan Sampson in the run game and also the passing game, with the versatility he has, that was definitely a highlight for me as well.”.
