AFTER another stunning performance the name of Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez is on everybody’s lips.

The fighting Texan moved to 21-0 (14 KOs) after a third-round stoppage of Pedro Guevara in Philadelphia last night. While it was the chief support bout there was no question that ‘Bam’ impressed more than the main event star Jaron Ennis.

Rodriguez had been the clear pick to to win but Guevara was a good shot to take the WBC super-flyweight champion deep into the contest. After being put down in round three from a combination Guevara, who held the interim belt, got back up. However, a right uppercut brought matters to a close later in the same session.

Boxing News caught up with Rodriguez after last night’s action and asked what he thought his 115lb rivals will be thinking following this latest victory.

“I know for sure I made a statement,” he said. “I’m the best at 115. Any other fighter at 115 knows when they step inside the ring with me it’s gonna be a problem.”

Widely considered as a pound-for-pound talent everyone wants to know who Rodriguez wants to fight next.

“Any unification at 115 if any of the champions want to come for it and step inside the ring I would love that,” he said.

Should matchups against either WBA champion Fernando Martinez or WBO champion Phumelele Cafu not happen then that leaves the possibility of a fight against Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez. Despite the mutual respect for one another and their shared affiliation with Japanese promoter Teiken it’s clear Rodriguez would have no problem knocking those barriers down to share the ring with the Nicaraguan great.

“If the unifications don’t come I would love a fight with Chocolatito,” Rodriguez said.
