2026 four-star QB Peyton Falzone discusses decommitment from Virginia Tech
Virginia Tech has lost the commitment of 2026 four-star quarterback Peyton Falzone. The Nazareth Area (Pennsylvania) signal-caller announced his decision to back off of his pledge from the Hokies on Wednesday.
While Falzone will still consider Virginia Tech throughout his recruitment, a desire to visit other schools to ensure he is making the best decision for himself and his family lead to his decommitment. Falzone felt that this was most fair to the Hokies and the schools he will be visiting, and he will now consider all options moving forward.
“I loved the relationships I’ve built with Virginia Tech and it is still a school on my board,” Falzone told Rivals. “However, I realized how beneficial it was for me to visit schools and learn about different programs and I didn’t feel right continuing to do so while committed.”
Falzone visited Ohio State this past weekend, and he has also made trips to Penn State and Wisconsin this fall.
Up next, Falzone plans to be at Iowa on Friday and Syracuse on Saturday.
Falzone originally committed to head coach Brent Fry, offensive coordinator Tyler Bowen and the Hokies in June.
Virginia Tech will continue to recruit Falzone, and he looks forward to furthering his bond with Pry, Bowen and the rest of the staff.
“They are still going to be recruiting me and continuing to build our relationship,” Falzone said about the Hokies.
While Virginia Tech will need to either sway Falzone to return to the fold or look to other options at quarterback in the 2026 class, the Hokies do currently have a commitment from three-star dual-threat quarterback Kelden Ryan in the 2025 class.
In addition to Virginia Tech, Falzone also has scholarship offers from Penn State, Wisconsin, Syracuse, Kent State and others.
The 6-foot-5, 200-pound Falzone currently ranks as the No. 6 dual-threat quarterback and the No. 6 prospect in the state of Pennsylvania in the 2026 cycle.
With Falzone backing off of his pledge, the Hokies currently do not have a commitment in the 2026 class.
